Covid-19 Alert

October 9, 2020 Hudson Area Schools received a phone call from the health department that indicated that a high school student that attends the CSI program from another school district tested positive for Covid-19.

Hudson Area Schools reviewed the circumstances with the Lenawee Health Department and completed the contact tracing protocols. Beside the Covid positive student, there is only one other person that was identified that needed to be quarantined. The person that was exposed was notified immediately and was quarantined for the next 14 days. The person that tested positive was also quarantined for 14 days. No other staff members or students came in contact with the student that tested positive.

To prevent the transmission of Covid-19 in our school buildings, Hudson Area Schools has approved the Covid-19 Preparedness and Response Plan. This plan outlines the measures that have been put in place to prevent transmission of Covid-19. Hudson Area Schools requires that all students and staff that are medically able are required to wear a facemask when in indoor hallways, common areas, or classrooms. Touchless hand sanitizing devises are available at all entry points. Frequent handwashing breaks are provided for staff and students. Signage displays various safety protocols. Student desks and other highly exposed areas are cleaned after every class period and each night. Daily temperature checks are performed for students. Social distancing is observed to the extent possible throughout the school day. Hudson Area Schools works closely with the Lenawee County Health Department to monitor and improve our building safety protocols regularly.

To prevent infection and to slow transmission of COVID-19, individuals are encouraged to do the following:

·         Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or clean them with alcohol-based hand rub.

·         Maintain at least six feet distance between you and people coughing or sneezing.

·         Avoid touching your face.

·         Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.

·         Stay home if you feel unwell.

·         Refrain from smoking and other activities that weaken the lungs.

·         Practice physical distancing by avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from large groups of people.
