Remote Learning Update 11/9

Hudson Area Schools has moved to remote learning starting Tuesday, November 10 through Friday, November 20. In-person instruction is scheduled to begin as normal on Monday, November 23. The reason for the move to remote learning is that we received notification this morning that we have 1 additional elementary staff member that has tested positive to Covid-19 causing a classroom to be quarantined in the elementary and several additional elementary staff that are quarantined due to exposure to a person that tested positive to Covid-19.

Below is important information that will help you in our transition to remote learning;

Classroom Instruction

Students are encouraged to check in to their classes daily. Teachers will also provide live or video instruction two or more times a week and make contact with students and families two or more times a week.

Hudson Center for Science and Industry (CSI)

Students from Hudson and other school districts will continue to be able to attend CSI in-person for Mechatronics. The Virtual Academy and Alternative Education labs will also remain open on their normal schedules.

Tech Center

Tech Center students can still attend the Tech Center. If they have permission to drive they can drive themselves. Hudson Tech Center Buses will continue to provide transportation at the normal departure times 8:30 and 11:30. If you are unable to attend contact Mr. Beard.

Internet Labs

Three labs will be available for families that do not have internet access. One lab will be located in the elementary building for students K-4, one lab will be in the Media Center for students 5-6, and one lab will be in the HS cafeteria for grades 7-12. Space is limited and must be scheduled ahead of time. The labs will be open from 8:30 AM- 10:30 am AND 11:30 pm – 1:30 pm. You must schedule time to attend the labs a day in advance by calling 448-8912 x224.

Transportation

Bus transportation is available daily for families that need transportation to the internet Labs. You must schedule a pick-up a day in advance by calling 448-8912 x224

Technology Support

If you have a technology need please contact your student’s teacher. The teacher will issue a ticket to request a repair or need. Our technology department will then contact you. You can also contact the Technology Department directly by calling 448-8912 x500.

Counseling and Social/Emotional Supports

Student Activities

Since we have only switched to remote learning due to staffing shortages, all student activities such as sport practices and events will continue as scheduled with social distancing and other Covid-19 protocols in place.

Food Service

Food service will be providing meals for the next several days. Meals for this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday can be picked up on Wednesday, November 11 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Five days of meals for next week can be picked up on Monday, November 16 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM.
